A tradition since the early 1930s is the 4th of July Parade down Main Street of Chester. Every year, a Grand Marshal is nominated by the community and voted on by the Lake Almanor Area Chamber Board of Directors. The Chamber received an overwhelming response of nominations for Carol Franchetti, and we are thrilled to announce that she will be the 2023 4th of July Parade Grand Marshal. 

Carol Wilson Franchetti is the owner of Carol’s Café, which has been a staple in the Lake Almanor Basin for over 51 years. Well-known and much-loved citizen of the community, Carol began her “comfort” meals to locals and guests of the Lake Almanor Basin in 1972 and continues to do so with joy, warmth and always a friendly smile.

But Carol’s participation in the community is not just with her delicious food. She is always “doing more” for the Basin, such as volunteering on the Lake Almanor Area Chamber Board, managing the Community Suppers, and working with the Food Pantry. She is a mentor for all who work for her as well. 

From food to even heat lamps that were borrowed for the ice-skating rink this year, Carol is always the first to give to her community. We are privileged to have her as a member of our community and now we honor her as the 2023 Grand Marshall of 4th of July parade.
