Campgrounds and RV Parks
Tent, RV or more remote camping choices abound in the Lake Almanor area and are as vast as the surrounding forests themselves. Public and private camping is available on the lake, in the Lassen National Forest, in Lassen Volcanic National Park and at many other area lakes or more remote campgrounds.

Lassen Volcanic National Park Campgrounds

Throughout the summer, approximately half of Lassen Volcanic National Park's campsites are reserve-able in four campgrounds. An additional four campgrounds are on a first-come, first-serve basis. All group sites and horse corrals require reservations. See each campground for detailed information.

Most PG & E Campgrounds are are on a first come first serve basis. Reservation Only campgrounds in the Lake Almanor Area are: Last Chance Creek, Camp Conery and Rocky Point Overflow Areas. Call 916-386-5164.

Rocky Point Campground is located 11 miles from Greenville at an elevation of 4500 feet. Set among pines on the shore of Lake Almanor, this beautiful campground has 160 sites. This campground is open from May to October, depending on snowfall.

Rocky Pont Over-Flow Areas are Reservation Only and are 1 1/2 miles north of Rocky Point Campground. Rocky Point North has 5 campsites. Rocky Point South has 19 campsites.

Camp Conery is located 9 miles from Greenville at an elevation of 4500 feet. Set among pines on Lake Almanor, this group camping area has a multi-purpose building with a cook area, grill, refrigerator, showers, and flush toilets. The campground also has 5 bunk houses, each with a bathroom, that will hold up to 50 people total. There are a swimming beach, basketball hoop and volleyball court, ping pong table and picnic area on site. Campers usually come here for church retreats or family reunions. This facility is open from the end of May to beginning of October. Camp Conery is Reservation Only. Call 916-386-5164.

Last Chance Campground is located 6 miles Northeast of Chester at an altitude of 4500 feet. Set among pines and junipers next to a mountain stream, this campground has 25 sites, 13 of which can be reserved as a group site. Campers come to this quiet little campground to hunt, fish, hike, ride horses, and relax. This campground is open from the end of May to early October.

Ponderosa Campground is located 8 miles from Chester at an altitude of 4150 feet. Set among pines on Butt Valley Reservoir, this campground has 63 sites, 20 overflow sites, and a boat ramp. Campers come here to fish, swim, boat, hike, and fish for local brown and stocked rainbow trout. This facility is open from early May to mid-September.

Cool Springs Campground is located 10 miles from Chester at an elevation of 3500 feet. Set among pines on the shore of Butt Lake Reservoir, this campground has 33 sites. Campers come to this quiet little campground to boat, fish, swim, and hike. This campground is open from the middle of May to the middle of September.

Yellow Creek Campground is located 20 miles from Lake Almanor at an elevation of about 4500 feet. Set along the banks of Yellow Creek overlooking a beautiful meadow, this secluded little campground has 12 sites. Roads to and inside the campground are dirt. This spot is a favorite with fly fishermen. This campground is open from the end of May to the middle of September.

Lassen National Forest Campgrounds

The U.S. Forest Service charges fees for the campgrounds having a developed water system, maintained rest rooms and garbage collection. Campgrounds that are identified as “self service” charge no fees & you must pack out your own garbage. Campfire permits are required for primitive camping.

Almanor is on the west shore of Lake Almanor, Hwy. 89, 7 mi. S of Hwy. 36. 103 tent/RV sites. Beach, boat ramp, picnic area, piped water. Pets OK.

Benner Creek is off Hwy 36 on Co Road 318 N of Chester. 9 tent sites. Self service. Pets allowed.

Domingo Springs, take Warner Valley Rd to County Rd 311, 8 mi. NW of Chester. 18 tent/RV sites, piped water. Leashed pets okay.

Echo Lake is north east of Chester on County Road 10. 5 tent sites, self service. Leashed pets okay.

High Bridge is 5 miles west of Chester off Warner Valley Rd. on N Fork Feather River. 12 tent sites, piped water, leashed pets okay.

Potato Patch is on Highway 32, Deer Creek Canyon.

Soldier Meadows is west of Chester off County Road 308. 15 tent/RV sites. Self service, pets OK.

Warner Creek is 8 miles northwest Chester off Warner Valley Rd. on Warner Creek. 13 tent/RV sites. Self service, leashed pets okay.
